A new TopGear South Africa Magazine has birthed under the auspices of a new publishing company - Clipping Point Publishing.  Having acquired the digital and print publishing rights for the revered BBC TopGear Magazine South Africa title in June 2020, the first of these publications - the website - has gone live on 1 September 2020.

Topgear.co.za is a brand-new commercial motoring/automotive news website property. The website offers a no-holds barred approach to motoring news and content, in keeping with the global positioning of what is the largest motoring media brand of its kind in the world.

Leading this charge is a team of South African entrepreneurs and media specialists who aim to build upon the enthusiastic and passionate car culture in South Africa. Publishing Editor & Founder Lerato Matebese is no stranger to the automotive space having worked at several of SA’s most respected titles including Business Day Motor News and Driven Magazine. Matebese wants to build the platform to showcase South African stories in a South African way. “Our mandate is to connect with our audience in a manner that is firstly entertaining and informative, but also reflective of the diversity of our country, its people and their love of everything automotive,” says Matebese.

Publisher Avon Middleton remains resolute in seeing sustainable growth with the business. “Starting a business in these trying economic times may seem unconventional and ill-timed but we’re taking measured steps to build upon a strong brand foundation,” says Middleton.

Wesley Marks is the Creative Director and Founder of Clipping Point Publishing. Wesley has been at the forefront of a few large brand journeys, but he has never been as excited at this challenge. “For a brand as popular and as valuable as TopGear, our role is to grow this brand and let it permeate the market in a locally relevant way. It’s hugely exciting for us as a team.”

TopGear South Africa will be published in print form in early 2021 where South Africans will once again be able to buy and page through a quality hard copy featuring some unique and entertaining content, created and curated in a way that only TopGear can do.
