Polestar Package upgrade for Volvo T8 plug-in hybrids now in SA

Volvo South Africa has announced that its Polestar Engineering Optimisation performance package is now available for all plug-in hybrid T8 models. 

Pretty much similar to what the M Sport package is to the BMW brand, the Polestar performance package has long been offered on various Volvo cars, and as it stands right now, our country is the only market in Africa that offers the package for the plug-in hybrid T8 powerplants. 

That said, all XC60 and XC90 Recharge plug-in hybrid derivatives that feature the T8 Twin Engine AWD powertrain qualify for the latest software-based upgrade. 

Speaking of the upgrade, it enhances various performance aspects of the powerplant by unlocking extra power for faster throttle response quick gear shifts and better control during cornering prowess, thanks to the calibration of the all-wheel-drive system. Aesthetically, the package adds a subtle ‘Polestar Engineered’ insignia on the tailgate as well as the addition of a dedicated Polestar driving mode. 

According to the local arm of the Swedish brand, the Polestar Package can be installed at any Volvo dealerships across Mzansi in under 60 minutes and to make it easier for car owners, the installation can be coupled with the vehicle’s service. 

Volvo also mentioned that the package does not void the original warranty or negatively affect fuel consumption. 

Volvo offers the new upgrade at a discounted price of R12,650 (incl. VAT) until the end of the year, and just in case you change your mind about the package within 14 days after installation, customers have the option to receive a full refund. 

With 340kW and 709Nm, the plug-in hybrid T8 variants are already formidable performers, and the Polestar package promises to deliver an even more exhilarating driving experience.
