Ford recalls V6-powered Ranger and Everest models
From the infamous Kuga fire scandal that rocked Ford between 2015 and 2017 to ongoing transmission issues in more recent years. Ford’s recall history is well documented, and now, there’s a new one to add to the list. The recall affects specific Ranger and Everest models equipped with 3.0-litre V6 engines.
Ford SA is recalling specific models built between June 2022 and March 2025 after identifying a potential fault with the left-side camshaft sprocket that could lead to engine failure. If this happens, the engine could stall and, in extreme circumstances, lead to an accident.
A total of 1,050 vehicles across Southern Africa have been identified as affected by the recall. Of these, 995 units are in South Africa, with smaller numbers in Namibia (34), Botswana (17), and Swaziland (4).
If you own one of these vehicles, Ford SA says they’ll be contacting affected customers directly. Owners are encouraged to reach out to their preferred dealership to schedule an inspection. The good news? All checks and repairs will be done free of charge.
To help the process, Ford has also provided an online tool where customers can check if their vehicle is part of this or any other recall. Just head to www.ford.co.za/owner/recalls/ and enter your VIN number into the search bar.
Since recalls are usually more preventive than reactive, it is encouraging to see Ford taking proactive steps to address this issue for clients while also ensuring their safety and satisfaction.
