Previously reserved only for the 911 and 718 Porsche models, the German car manufacturer is expanding its Macan range with the inclusion of the T model – shorthand for Touring.

As the first-ever four-door sports car to spawn the name, the Porsche Macan T comes equipped with bespoke tuning, exclusive equipment plus economical powertrains.

The Porsche Macan T houses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine with a total output power of 195 kW and 400 Nm of torque. A 7-speed PDK transmission sends power to all four corners via the brand’s PTM all-wheel-drive system.

A 6.2-second sprint time from 0-100 km/h is achieved when fitted with the standard Sport Chrono Package that includes the mode switch and Sport Response button mounted on the steering wheel.

The Macan T’s top speed is capped at 232 km/h.

Lurking underneath the Macan T is standard steel suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management, making it the only Porsche model to be fitted with this combination. Sitting 15 mm lower than its Macan counterparts, the T houses anti-roll bars on the front axle that are more rigid, optimised chassis tuning for enhanced steering inputs and agile handling.

Buyers can add an optional adaptive air suspension with PASM that further lowers the body by 10 mm which is a new feature for four-cylinder-powered Macans.

On the outside, the new Porsche Macan T features design elements finished in Agate Grey Metalic on the front, flank and rear to help it differ from its siblings. The treatment is also applied on the front trim, outside mirrors, side blades, roof spoiler as well as insignias at the back.

The rear is further fitted with sports tailpipes and side window trims in gloss black as standard. The ‘Macan T’ logo on the side blades is also finished in gloss black. Borrowed from the Macan S are standard 20” wheels finished in a dark titanium hue and are upgradeable to a range of 13 plain, metallic and special colours for the exterior.

Similar to the 2021 revised model generation, the Macan T features a new centre console and Porsche Communication Management system with a 10.9” touch screen and online navigation as standard.

There are standard eight-way electronically-adjustable heated sports seats with exclusive upholstery based on the black leather package. The centres of the front seats and the outer rear seats are fitted with the Sport-Tex Stripe pattern and the front headrests each have an embossed Porsche crest.

The decorative silver stitching on the seats, headrests and steering wheel is shared with the exterior contrasting colour. Furthermore, the Porsche Macan T comes standard with a multifunction GT heated sports steering wheel, Sport Chrono stopwatch on the dash and black aluminium entry guards with a Macan T logo.

Optional features include the multifunction GT sports steering wheel in Race-Tex with carbon trims and an ioniser.

The new Porsche Macan T slots between the Macan and Macan S and it is priced from R1,190,000 and includes a three-year/100 000 km Drive Plan.

It is available to order now with the first deliveries expected from June 2022.
