Volkswagen Polo Sedan now on sale in SA

As the only sedan within the local Volkswagen range, the new Polo Sedan has finally landed in Mzansi and it's now available for purchase.

‍

Ever since its launch in South Africa in 2011, 44,267 units of the Polo Sedan have found homes, with its greatest selling-point being its undeniable value-for-money proposition for business fleets or even e-hailing services.

‍

The Polo Sedan is sold locally in two trim levels and a choice of manual or Tiptronic transmissions. The former comes standard with LED headlights, App-Connect, a 7" touchscreen radio, cruise control plus a multifunction steering wheel. It sits on standard 16" steel wheels.

Moving to the Life variant, this model adds keyless entry and start, a rear-view camera, 10" touchscreen infotainment system, wireless mobile charging, wireless App-Connect, power adjustable and folding exterior mirrors, climatronic air conditioning, ambient lighting, leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel and gear lever, front fog lamps and cornering lights, a chrome package and rides on a set of 16" Scimitar alloys.

Sitting at the top of the line-up is the Life Tiptronic with its Hill Start Assist and a leather steering wheel with paddle shifters.

Buyers have the option to choose between a choice of five exterior colours; solid paint (Candy White) and four metallic colours (Wild Cherry Red, Carbon Steel Grey, Reflex Silver and Rising Blue).

Motivation in the new Polo Sedan comes from a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder MPI petrol engine that produces 81 kW of power and 152 Nm of torque to the front axle. Equipped with the 5-speed manual, the Polo Sedan dashes from a standstill to 100 km/h in 11.2 seconds before reaching a top speed of 190 km/h. The Tiptronic gets the same task completed in 12.2 seconds en route to a top speed of 187 km/h.

Regarding safety systems, the Polo Sedan comes with ESC, multi-collision braking system, tyre pressure monitoring, Park Distance Control in the rear, a rear-view camera for the Life variants and Hill Start Assist for the Life Tiptronic.

As standard, the Polo Sedan is offered with a 3-year/120,000 km warranty, a 3-year/45,000 km EasyDrive Service Plan, and a 12-year anti-corrosion warranty. The service interval is 15,000 km.

‍

Customers have the option to extend the EasyDrive Maintenance and EasyDrive Service Plans up to 10 years/300,000 km.
