Toyota Vitz X-Cite Brings a Helping of Orange

The X-Cite nameplate is no stranger in the automotive industry. Remember the Toyota Aygo X-Cite? Introduced in 2017, it had an electronic retractable roof and a few other bespoke features.

However, six years have passed and the Aygo is long gone; it has been replaced by the Toyota Vitz, which is, in short, a rebadged Suzuki Celerio that serves as an entry-level vehicle in the Toyota range.

Launched locally earlier this year, Toyota is expanding the Vitz range with the addition of the X-Cite variant, which brings with it a host of bespoke features such as orange detailing on the front and back ends as well as on the lower grille section.

Toyota has also added a bright orange rear spoiler with black, grey, and orange detailing adorning the exterior mirrors, plus X-Cite badging and a flash of orange on the protective black side moulding.

The Vitz X-Cite is offered in five exterior shades: Mystic Pearl White, Urban Silver, Dusk Grey, Jet Blue, and Shadow Black Pearl.

The orange detailing continues on the inside and it’s been applied on various points such as on the air vent cowls, gear lever bracket and the rear electric window switches. The touch of orange gives the Vitz a more sportier feel compared to the regular models.

Everything else has been carried over from the other models. These include an infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, USB, a 4-speaker audio system, remote central locking, air conditioning, and electric mirrors and windows.

Power still comes from a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated 3-cylinder engine with 49kW of power and 89Nm of torque. The Vitz X-Cite can only be had with a 5-speed manual transmission that sends power to the front wheels. The setup, as experienced during our first drive, works well.

Toyota offers the Vitz X-Cite in standard and XR guise, each priced at R189,900 and R219,900, respectively.
