After a number of heavily camouflaged models were spotted undergoing testing, Stuttgart-based carmaker Porsche has finally revealed its new Macan.

The new Porsche Macan is available in three variants with the Macan GTS taking the Turbo slot as the top of the range model.

The range-opening Porsche Macan features a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 195 kW of power and 400 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.2 seconds before hitting the top speed at 232 km/h.

The mid-range Macan S takes the GTS’ place and it is powered by a 2.9-litre V6 bi-turbo engine with 280 kW - 20 kW more than what the previous Macan S makes. The Macan S dashes from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds with its top speed capped at 259 km/h.

The top-tier Macan GTS houses a 2.9-litre V6 bi-turbo engine that pushes out 324 kW and 550 Nm enough to catapult the SUV from 0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds when fitted with the Sport Chrono package. The Macan GTS will continue to run until it reaches a top speed of 272 km/h.

All three models of the new Macan shuffle through a dual-clutch transmission and Porsche Traction Management all-wheel-drive system.

The new Porsche Macan entry-level can be optionally fitted with the reworked Porsche Active Suspension Management. The PASM is fitted as standard for the S and range-topping GTS variants.

Offered as standard in the new Macan GTS is the sport air suspension that lowers the body by 10 mm. The Sport package can be specified as an option and adds 21” GT design wheels with performance tyres, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) and the Sport Chrono package.

The GTS Sport package adds 18-way sport seats, Carbon interior package, Race-Tex upholstery with extended leather elements, various items with contrast stitching and GTS lettering in Python Green.

Outside, the new Porsche Macan boasts notable changes such as a reworked front-end. The GTS’ centre of the nose section plus other exterior bits are finished in black, the rear-end features a new optional 3D structure and sportier rear diffuser.

The LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System and Sport Design exterior mirrors are available as standard across the entire Macan range.

The new Porsche Macan is available with a total of 14 colours including the new hues Papaya Metallic and Gentian Blue Metallic, as well as Python Green for the Macan GTS with the GTS Sport package.

The Macan comes fitted with at least 19” wheels, 20” for the S and 21” for the GTS. Porsche has added a total of seven new wheel designs to the line-up.

The interior is fitted with a new operating concept as well as a redesigned centre console. There is a new shorter selector lever and a standard analogue clock. As options, there is a number of leather upholstery and contrasting seam packages in Gentian Blue, Papaya or Crayon.

Like before, a 10.9-inch full HD touch display of the Porsche Communication Management controls online functions and services as standard.

Borrowed from the 911 is the new multifunction and GT Sport steering wheels.

The new Porsche Macan order book will open in the coming weeks and the first deliveries are earmarked to begin in January 2022.  If you were wondering when the EV version of the Macan will join the fray, then 2023 is the year its earmarked to debut.
