Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid Debuts as a Super SUV with a Green Conscience

When it comes to electrification, vehicle manufacturers like Porsche continue to electrify their product range by embarking on a hybrid odyssey before the full embrace of electric vehicles.

If you're a fan of Porsche, you're probably aware that the company has been working hard to electrify its Cayenne lineup and that the E-Hybird variations are part of the company's larger push towards a zero-emissions future, like most manufacturers across the world.

Just last month, Porsche unveiled its most potent Cayenne ever, the Turbo E-Hybrid, which slots above the Turbo GT and packs a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine and a 130kW electric motor for a total output of 544kW and 950Nm of torque.

Just in case that’s too much for your liking, the Stuttgart-based carmaker has revealed its third plug-in Cayenne model dubbed S E-Hybrid which slots between the base Cayenne and brutal Turbo models.

Despite occupying the lower level of the product range, the Cayenne S E-Hybrid is no slouch. As a starter, it features a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine with 260kW that is paired with a 130kW electric motor with a total system output of 382kW and 750Nm. With this setup, the Cayenne S E-Hybrid hurtles from a standstill to 100km/h in 4.7 seconds before hitting its top speed of 263km/h making it quicker than the non-hybrid Cayenne S.

Stacked underneath the SUV is a 25.9kWh battery pack that allows the Cayenne S E-Hybrid to travel for up to 90km between chargers. The battery pack can be recharged via a suitable power source with a charging capacity of up to 11kW in less than two and a half hours.

Visually, the Cayenne S E-Hybrid looks similar to its counterparts and comes equipped with 20-inch wheels from the Cayenne S as standard, an exhaust system with two twin tailpipes in brushed stainless steel, standard matrix LED headlights, and optional HD matrix LED headlights.

Available as an SUV and SUV Coupé, the former can be had with the Silver exterior package, while the latter can be kitted with the Black exterior package.

Inside, features such as 8-way seats, Sport Chrono package stainless steel pedal pads, and Diamar interior package painted in Silvershade are offered as standard.

Other features include a new optional passenger screen that includes in-car video functions, as well as the new air quality system.

The Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid joins the growing range of hybridised models under the Porsche banner and it brings with it a host of standard features as well as performance that won’t leave many disappointed.

According to Porsche, the new Cayenne S E-Hybrid models can be ordered immediately, and customer deliveries will start in November 2023.
