Mercedes-AMG C63 S F1 Edition unveiled with an eye-catching stance.

While Mzansi continues to wait for the new C63 S E Performance to arrive in 2023, the Stuttgart-based automaker has now ripped the covers off its limited-edition F1 Edition model, which is available for one year from the start of sales.

The Mercedes-AMG C63 S F1 Edition has exclusive features and details, such as an alpine grey paint job from the Manufactur basket that’s further complemented by red trim lines on the sides, front and rear aprons. It is equipped with an AMG logo and a colour gradient transitioning from grey to black.

It sits on 20” AMG forged wheels in a 5-twin-spoke design shaded in matt black. Red rim flanges nod to the colour scheme worn by the Official FIA F1 Medical Car from Mercedes-AMG, while the AMG Aerodynamics Package enhance the car’s handling ability. The package consists of a large front splitter, spoiler lip on the boot lid, redesigned trim on the side members, plus a diffuser board.

It comes standard with the AMG Night Package I and the AMG Night Package II. These add high-gloss treatment to the front splitter, the trim elements in the front wings, the outside mirror housings, the beltline trim strip, and the window surrounds. Other than that, the radiator grille louvres, the trim strip in the rear apron, the twin tailpipe trims of the AMG exhaust system and the model badge on the boot lid are all finished in black chrome.

The AMG fuel-filler cap comes in silver chrome with “AMG” lettering.

Moving inside, there are AMG Performance seats in Exclusive Nappa leather with red decorative topstitching, plus embossed AMG emblems on the front head restraints. Red seat belts, exclusive AMG carbon trim elements with red thread, an AMG Performance steering wheel in Nappa leather/ DINAMICA microfibre with red decorative topstitching and AMG door sill trims with red illuminated AMG treadplates.

An exclusive Edition badge inside, plus AMG-specific floor mats with red decorative topstitching and the F1 logo, round off the interior look.

Under the bonnet, the regular C63 S’ 2.0-litre turbocharged in-line 4-cylinder engine is the beating heart of the operation. It is paired with a rear-mounted electric motor and a battery pack. The setup is good for 500 kW of power and 1,020 Nm sent to all four wheels via the 4Matic+ system with fully-variable torque distribution and drift mode.

It catapults from 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds despite its heavy weight of 2,111 kg. It will accelerate before tapping out at 250 km/h while shuffling through an AMG 9-speed MCT gearbox.

Buyers of the limited-edition C63 S F1 Edition will each receive a customised AMG Indoor Car Cover with the F1 logo.
