McLaren GT Comes in Hot

The McLaren GT is a beautiful piece of kit that raises the bar on what can be considered a Grand Tourer. Being such an interesting and fresh supercar in McLaren's arsenal, we can't say that we were really surprised that McLaren is launching a special edition of its GT.

The current trend manufacturers are adopting focuses on celebrating their brand's history. With cars like the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport ‘Golden Era’ and Porsche 911 S/T, McLaren wanted to honour its past in a slightly different way. Producing four new exterior colours for their GT and adding the element of exclusivity as each colour will have only two units made, for a total of eight special unit models.

The special nature of these colours has been inspired by iconic colours such as Cerulean Blue, which was used on the P1. Sarigan Quartz, which was used on the Speed Tail XP2, and XP Green, which was used on the F1 prototype. Also, there's an all-new colour called Cyber Yellow.

All of these special edition units will be fitted with the MSO Black Pack, which includes gloss black wheels and a black roof, in addition to smaller touches like the exhaust, upper window trims, and mirror caps.

The Special Edition will also include diamond stitching that matches the exterior, along with a union jack on the key and armrest and the MSO logo on the seats.

It appears that there will be no performance changes, despite possible speculation that these models would be similar to the MSO-modified GT that appeared at the Pebble Beach Concours in 2019.

It is fascinating to see the different editions that manufacturers are currently releasing, and these Special Edition GT models look the part and will hold a level of exclusivity. So, keep an eye out for the interestingly coloured GTs out there; one may very well be considered an icon in the near future.

*At the time of writing, McLaren hasn't yet published official photos of its GT with the special edition colour scheme.
