Facelifted Audi S8 now in SA

The Audi S8 has, for many years, existed as the brand’s flagship model that blends sublime performance, style and unmatched levels of luxury.

Think of a massive luxury vehicle with all the bells and whistles, such as massaging seats and a high-tech infotainment system further complemented by a quiet cabin and upscale materials; the S8 is that car.

It’s been handed a nip and tuck for the 2022 model year that comes with various changes inside and out. Regarding the outside, the halo model now comes with a sharpened design courtesy of a wider single-frame grille that spawns chrome angles. There are more upright side air intakes and freshly styled headlights with standard Digital HD Matrix LED technology and OLED rear lights.

Among the list of standard requirements are Quattro with sports differential, dynamic all-whee steering, adaptive cruise control, Audi connect2X and infotainment services. There's also predictive active suspension, Valcona leather upholstery with diamond stitching, seat ventilation and massage function that elevates the S8. Furthermore, Bang & Olufsen Premium Sound with 3D effect, Audi virtual cockpit Plus, and Head-up display also form part of the list.

Audi puts luxury at the forefront of the S8 hence why it can be had with the optional rear seat package that delivers a three-seat system with two electrically adjustable individual seats. They can be adjusted electronically for longitudinal seat position, backrest angle and head adjustment, with further adjustments for added comfort.

Audi has thrown a cooler box and air quality package that consists of an ionizer and fragrancer in the mix of features. The S8 comes with predictive active suspension for added comfort on the road.

As standard, the S8 is equipped with an MMI touch response operating concept that uses two displays measuring 10.1” and 8.6”. Rear occupants can enjoy entertainment via two 10.1” displays at full HD resolution mounted at the front seat headrests.

Like before, the S8 is powered by a 4.0-litre Biturbo V8 TFSI engine that gushes out 420 kW and 800 Nm. That ensures the luxurious behemoth accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds while toggling an 8-speed Tiptronic transmission that drives all four wheels.

It’s priced at R2,759,000 and includes a standard 5-year/100,000 km Audi Freeway Plan.
