Caterham to Debut All-New Electric Sports Car at Goodwood.
Many performance car manufacturers are racing to produce fully electric sports cars, but Caterham was probably the last brand we were expecting to jump on this bandwagon. First came their EV Seven, and now the all-new Project V, a fairly progressive-looking EV, is set to make its debut.
This bold new project from Caterham shows the potential to influence the future of electric sports cars in design and engineering. Its rounded fenders and streamlined bodywork combine to create an elegant and gorgeous exterior.
The interior portrays a simple yet functional atmosphere, characteristic of Caterham’s designs. The cabin design has an element of class, with its Alcantara and carbon fibre dash and cream accents to sophisticate the aesthetic. But the most interesting aspect of the interior of this EV is its seating configuration, as Project V is a 3-seater with a seat in the middle of the rear bench.
The specs are impressive too. The Project V has a rear-mounted 200kW electric motor, allowing it to reach 100km/h in 4.5 seconds. The range is stated at roughly 400km from its 55kWh battery.
Typically, EVs are limited in the top speed department. It's no different with the V, as it will only reach an underwhelming top speed of 230km/h. The Project V weighs in at a slight 1,190kg. This is particularly impressive when you consider the inherently heavy nature of EVs. With power delivered to the rear wheels, this vehicle promises to be a thrilling and agile ride, particularly in tight corners.
The likelihood of SA receiving any units, even from private importers, is slim to none. However, if you are in the market for such a vehicle, the starting price is R1,885,051 in the UK. This special new sports car will debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend, with production estimated to begin in late 2025, so keep an eye out for this hot little EV on your socials.
