Audi South Africa is broadening its local A7 Sportback range with the addition of a sportier model that dons the S7 Sportback moniker.

The new S7 Sportback is available for purchase in Mzansi and carries a price tag of  R1 500 500.

For that amount of money, buyers get a spacious vehicle that packs a 3.0-litre V6 engine with 331 kW of power and  600 Nm of torque, similar to that powering the S6 sedan. The engine is paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system that, according to Audi, increases efficiency.

All that amount of grunt is channelled to all four wheels via the brand’s Quattro system plus an eight-speed tiptronic transmission.

The S7 Sportback romps from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds while its top speed is capped at 250 km/h.

On the exterior point of view, the S7 Sportback embraces the same design language worn by Audi’s latest products. It is fitted with a S model specific front trim, wide sills and rear diffuser with four tailpipe trims.

It also wears distinctive S trim elements in dark chrome and aluminium on the radiator grille slats, front blade, side air inlet, exterior mirrors and rear diffuser.

The front-end comes fitted with HD Matrix LED headlights while the rear features animated rear lights.

It runs on standard 21-inch wheels in an S-specific wheel design.

The interior is bolstered with the Audi virtual cockpit with a 12.3-inch display, MMI navigation plus, four-zone automatic air conditioning, HD touch displays with haptic feedback, contour ambient lighting with up to 30 colours, Audi phone box and smartphone interface, Bang and Olufsen premium sound system with 3D sound and a panoramic glass sunroof.

There are S sport seats with integrated head restraints and if you like you can add multi-adjustable customized contour seats at an additional charge for added comfort.

The standard seat upholstery is available in Valcona leather with embossed S logo with the no cost option to choose a combination of leather and Alcantara or Valcona leather and Milano leather combination, perforated.

Customers can choose between Black, Rotor Grey and Arras Red.

Other options include dynamic all-wheel steering while an S sport suspension with damping control comes as standard.

The new Audi S7 TFSI Sportback quattro Tiptronic comes standard with the 5 year / 100 000km Audi Freeway plan and is available for sale at Audi Centres across Mzansi.

For those with a penchant for even more performance, then the RS 7 Sportback, earmarked for introduction in the first quarter of 2021, will hopefully satiate that appetite.
