Harnessing such prodigious power is a six-speed manual gearbox mated to a new GR-FOUR permanent all-wheel-drive system. For ultra-smooth downshifts, the transmission features Intelligent Manual Transmission with selectable automatic rev-matching.
The all-wheel-drive system is configured to deliver maximum accelerative traction through optimal torque distribution to all four wheels, while simultaneously remaining simple and lightweight. Torque distribution between the front and rear axles is managed by a high-response centre coupling, while two limited-slip Torsen differentials do the same for the split between the left-side and right-side wheels. This ensures a connected but natural driving feel and superlative adhesion for all road conditions. As a result, the GR Yaris accelerates from standstill to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 230 km/h. Handling excellence and on-the-limit control is guaranteed by Gazoo Racing-tuned MacPherson strut suspension in front, complemented by double wishbone at the back. For heightened control and dynamic adaptability during ultra-high performance driving – or the driver’s mood – the GR-Yaris’s all-wheel-drive can be adjusted.
