VW Previews ID.2all Concept with New Design Language

Set to be as spacious as a Golf and as inexpensive as a Polo, Volkswagen has revealed its ID.2all concept, one of the new electric vehicles the brand aims to launch by 2026.

Based on the MEB platform that underpins the Audi e-Tron and VW’s ID products, the ID.2all will be the first MEB car with a front-wheel drive configuration when it launches.

Off the bat, It packs a front-mounted electric motor with 166 kW of power that allows the hatch to sprint from 0-100 km/h in about 7 seconds before hitting the top speed of 160 km/h.

Details about the battery pack capacity remain sparse at this stage, but VW says the ID.2all will have a range of up to 450 km and a 10-80% charging capability in under 20 minutes.

Regarding the dimensions, the ID.2all concept measures 4,050 mm in length, 1,812 mm in width and 1,530 mm in height. Although it’s a margin smaller than the Golf, its wheelbase is the same at 2,600 mm. The boot space is measured at 490 litres or 1,330 litres when folding the rear seats flat.

One element of the ID.2all concept car that stands out is the C-pillar design developed for the first Golf as an interpretation of the new design language. Besides the smooth lines, the concept gets a familiar ID face, further complemented by clean and smooth lines and a rear end with a full-width lighting element between the rear lights.

The interior is made up of clean surfaces and dual screens that consist of a digital instrument cluster and a 12.9” touchscreen. Below that resides a new HVAC control panel.

As stated earlier, the ID.2all concept is one of ten new EVs that will be launched by 2026. This year, VW will launch the new ID.3, LWB ID. Buzz and the ID.7.
