Hammond meets Phineas and Ferb!
TopGear.commers with children under the age of ten will already understand this headline (and probably have the theme tune aurally tattooed on their lower cortex).
For the rest of you, welcome to the world of Phineas Flynn, English stepbrother Ferb Fletcher, and bossy sister Candace, three cartoon characters who can never agree, and repeatedly hatch shenanigans doomed to failure each week… Sound familiar?
In their latest step towards global domination, the three presenters will be voicing over the characters of car race commentators in an upcoming Disney episode of the show called “Live and Let Drive” on at the end of the year.
But in the meantime, Hammond agreed to be grilled by the animated gang on Take Two With Phineas and Ferb, which was shown on Disney’s XD on Thursday 16 May in the UK.
“I couldn’t say yes quickly enough. I did Phineas and Ferb as a way of impressing my children. They think I’ve done something cool for once!” says Hammond.
“Impressing my girls as a bloke off a car show is impossible. They are not impressed by fancy cars or motorcycles or me flying a helicopter or any of the things I like doing. They have grown up with having a dad on the telly, it has always been the case for them, so there’s little novelty in it for them, but when it’s a show that they watch independently of my being in it and then I crop up on it, that’s much cooler.”
