TopGear named coolest magazine in SA
The results are out. TopGear has been voted the Coolest Male magazine in South Africa – for the second year running.
In addition to that the publication was also voted the Coolest Magazine overall in the Sunday Times Generation Next 2013 youth brand survey.
The results were announced at a glitzy awards ceremony at Montecasino in Johannesburg. Over 6000 South African youths from six different provinces took part in the survey, and voted on which brands they find most appealing.
Part of TopGear’s success is that “it has the ability to make motoring fun,” says Pierre Steyn, editor of the magazine. “We try to reflect all this in the magazine itself. That’s what people buy into”.
By adopting a keen online presence, TopGear has managed to create a constant dialogue with their fans, on the various cars featured in the magazine. This allows the publication to reach a wider and more diverse audience.
Other magazines making it onto the cool wall included YOU magazine, Drum, FHM and Men’s Health. The South African edition of TopGear magazine is a print extension BBC’s popular motoring television show.
