New champ crowned at Killarney

7 October, 2013 | by Benedict Pather

Killarney Cape Town – A new race champ was crowned at the Engen Volkswagen Cup series this past weekend as Kosie Weyers claimed the 2013 title – which marked his first national circuit championship win.

The stellar performance by Weyers this past season ensured that he tallies up enough points to claim an overall win. He will now contest in the final round in November without the pressure of racing for victory points.

The battle for second place however still remains between drivers Mathew Hodges and Dewald Brummer, who are currently separated by just six points.

With the marginal gap between these two racers – and 25 points available for each race win – neither can afford to give the other any potential advantages when they meet for the season finale at Kyalami in a few short weeks.

Were you at the race this past weekend? If so, share your experiences by telling us what it was like, and which driver you’ve been betting on…
