Video: GT6 set for November 2013
Thumb racers, listen up. Electronics giant Sony said on Wednesday that its hugely successful driving simulation series, Gran Turismo 6, will be released in November this year.
The announcement was made at a media briefing at Silverstone race circuit, with the title’s legendary creator Kazunori Yamauchi, in attendance.
GT6 will be made available on the PlayStation 3 platform and not the expected PS4 console. Not to worry, says Sony, who are adamant that gaming enthusiasts can expect “new levels of authenticity” and a more enhanced racing experience.
They’ve also promised improved convergence with smartphones and tablets as we well as other social media features. Nice one.
Of the 33 circuits, seven are brand new, with Silverstone being one of them.
Since its initial release back in 1997, Gran Turismo has been hailed for its realistic features and grand list of supercars. It very much is the petrolhead’s driving game.
This time is no different with the likes of Lamborghini, Ferrari, Audi and Bugatti all featured in the line-up. Vintage models as well as exotic new ones make up the 1200 cars players get to choose from.
The video game series has sold over 70m units since it raced onto the market, making it the company’s most successful game, ever.
Currently there is only speculation about the game being made available for the PS4 platform. But an announcement is likely to be made at the E3 games show in June. For now watch the trailer below for a taste of what’s to come.
