Audi reveals new RS-tuned Q3
Another newcomer at the Geneva motor show will be the Audi RS Q3, which will be heading to South Africa later this year. This is the first time Audi places an RS badge on one of their SUV’s following a welcomed makeover by their high performance division – quattro GmbH.
The RS Q3 promises to combine “high performance and driving pleasure”, but wait isn’t that what you’d expect from a car in this market segment? You also get lots of engine roar from the motor through to exhaust – a sporty characteristic that made Audi popular since the 1980s.
It will sprint from 0 – 100 in 5.5 seconds reaching a top speed of 250km/h. Its 2.5-litre TFSI turbo engine will produce 228kW and a maximum of 420 Nm of torque. Audi claims it has an average fuel consumption of 8.8 litres per 100 km.
This new addition to the Audi clan comes with an array of technological features inside the cabin and can be customized those keen on a more dynamic look. Note the inclusion of the honeycomb grille and discreet lip spoiler synonymous with previous RS offerings.
Could this RS-tuned Q3 strike a nerve with the competition? Let’s wait and see.
