Anything Hilux is massive news in the local automotive market and it’s the reason we’re about to tell you a bit more about Toyota latest cosmetic product update.
It’s called the Hilux Raider Black Limited Edition and as the naming convention implies, there a few darkened styling details. This latest Hilux update applies only to the 2.8 GD Raider models, in both 4×4 and 4×4 configuration.
Mechanically you’re running the proven 2.8-litre turbodiesel, good for 130kW and either 430- or 450Nm, depending on whether you option it with a manual or self-shifting six-speed transmission.
For a small premium, you get a black roof (not carbon) and colour-coded side mirrors, door handles and fender extensions – housing 18-inch alloys. The limited edition styling theme continues with a black grille, which greatly improves the Hilux’s front-on appearance – and to keep your load bed weather proof, there’s a tonneau cover, which is black too, obviously…
Inside there’s imitation carbon, black leather and a powered driver’s seat, whilst embossed floor mats ensure you know exactly which kind of limited edition Hilux you are in. And that’s quite important, because there have been many.
Between all the Dakar editions and many Legend series Hilux iterations, Toyota is the undisputed edition double-cab trend setter for Mzansi. There’s only one peculiar thing about this Black Limited-Edition Hilux: you can’t have it in black. That’s right. The only three available colours are Glacier White, Chromium Silver or Graphite Grey.
